12,000 feet up, standing and walking amongst ancient giants.

Cold extremities, but a warm and full heart. The enrichment of genuine conversation and souls that are happy in the moment cannot be emphasized enough. In these days and times, it is a level of refreshment akin to a drug.

Me, Alex, and Maria. We all met that same day and we all met in the Andes mountains.

A photo series:

You hear it first. The hushed lapping of the waves, their noise quieted as if they’re in the library. A soothing sound that brings on a primal level of comfort.

Then you think you hear another noise, but you’re not quite sure. As you’re thinking about hearing, the noise ramps up until you hear the unmistakable - the acoustically euphoric pitter patter of the rain.

You look up and see the timeless, unique dance of rain upon water. Some droplets extending further than others; some causing bigger ripples than others; but, all combining together in a mesmerizingly beautiful, non-perfect harmony.

Time passes by more slowly as you take in these moments. You face the ever-changing, dancing surface while listening to the delightful orchestra and think, “what an amazing privilege it is to be alive on Earth.”

Photos plucked from the archive: Virgin Islands the first time (2015). First time I ever shot photos underwater. My best friend’s dad lent me a lens so I could shoot underwater with my new dive setup.

First: I don’t post every day. I don’t even post often. I haven’t had much time to go through photos because I’ve been working and had life events get in the way.

There was a point in my life where I posted every day. That was a time when instagram was a different animal. All posts were treated equally and were shown based on time. Now the algorithm rewards what it wants to encourage - posting all the time. It’s whatever. A lot of artists are not rewarded by Instagram - that’s not why we do art anyway though.

Those years ago I was posting to share my art, to build a following, and to sell prints.

These days I’m posting to share my art in digital form: photos, videos, and written words.

I really appreciate all of you still following along and still taking the time to view, read, and share your own thoughts and feelings. The sense of community I feel from many of you is rewarding. That’s not why I do what I do, but it really makes the moments better.

Been super busy lately but have been trying to make time for some joy, diversion, and good moments.

These times were all of those.

One of the highest hikes I’ve done to date - over 16,000 feet 🙂

Can’t wait to do a lot more. Just have to focus on some grown folks things first and then I’ll be back in the mountains munching on avocados and fighting off bulls that try to block my way.
